This is Kai's 'taggie' Yeah tried machine applique..fun will do more. Left over scraps from his blanket.
Twirly skirts from Simplicity pattern 2356..Kicked my self as I realized that particular style is just a circle skirt. But there are cuter styles in the pattern that I'll try.
Made these after making one for their cousin's birthday they demanded so I could'nt help myself.

The Poopy Arts : Newborn Diaper Stash
Is it complete? I have no earthly idea how many I really need or if these suckers are going to fit...will my baby be gargantuan---Aly's favorite word. Or will he be a nice straight 8pounder like Ro. Im shooting for the 8 pounder...yes there is a difference between giving birth to a 9.9 er like Aly vs. Ro's nice and easy eight...Im so glad that Aly was the first .Ah ignorance is bliss. But I digress...so after about a month of internet 'research' and obsessing. I have created this a combo of cloth diapering products. Here it be: a dozen infant Indian prefolds..(no really they are made of cotton from india)2 bummi covers, 12 of my handmade beautifully fluffy flannel fitteds,6 Bum Genius (they are All In One Pocket diapers--means the look like a disposable with an insert that you stuff in between, pricey too) which I have now realized that there is no way this kid will fit in those for about 3 months.I plan to make covers too but I need some FOE (fold over elastic and the PUL (a waterproof fabric) I love sewing aycronyms. You will either drool or throw your hands up and ponder my sanity over these things. Why Would you do this!? She must be a Granola babe, Eco Princess,an Excrement Activist ...I have been known to tie dye but truth be told there are two reasons...1) I am very cheap and I have figured ..to justify reason 2 that we will save about $1,200 this year in diapers. And reason 2) My baby's bum WILL BE CUTER THAN YOURS! Yes, yes, so these hold various excrement but why should that excrement holder be blah? Why should my baby's bum touch plastic and weird gel when it can luxurate in soft blankety flannel, sherpa,or velour--- what I'll try in the next size. So go a head laugh at my shallow reasoning, or better yet JOIN ME...I will teach you the poopy arts.

More More!! This is what I call nesting!
.
The Girls Easter dresses are done!! Yes I bought the Shantung in January...made Aly's dress a week later and I'm have now just finished Ro's. I did Ro's in a total of two hours spread out over months :) I got distracted with baby stuff!! Started diaper stashes, Donations, Baby blankets, Gifts the list of excuses continues. So this was a really easy pattern despite that it looked complicated to me at first. Simplicity 4647 I liked it so much the long length ie my girls now feel like princesses I want make these dresses again but NOT in Shantung. First, of all its lovely but it shows my self taught skills a little much and it was darn expensive even with JOann's 50% off coupon. Plus I think a nice soft cotton print would be forgiving and reminiscent of a Jane Austen era look, plus the girls can run around all day in them without me cringing everytime they sit on the floor,or eat something.

Oh BABY ! Sewing Bonanza!
Three girly baby blankets with matchy matchy 'designer' burp cloths. So the cutting lady rolled her eyes at me for considering making such fluff for a baby to 'puke' on. Why does it have to be boring? Why can't one make the practical be fabulous? Uggh.. One is for the basket in the silent auction at the preschool.. and the other two ..well there lets just say that there have been many freinds who are all preggers at the same time and I need shower gifts made pronto before the Big Guy comes.

Road To Spring Quilt Almost There.
So here is the top and here it is quilted. This was my first attempt at free motion quilting. I'd have to say it wasn't bad but I did start getting a little carpal tunnel action towards the end ...I would say that if I were to do something like a queen, I'll pay the bucks to have a nice lady quilt it for me on her long arm. I got tired and a little sloppy at the end, but quilting it at a faster speed than what I'm used to was a little scary but a must if to do it right, my guess is that because the feed dogs are down it screws up the tension if ya go to slow. Just the binding left.

Sock Monkey Quilt
Hurray for Sock Monkeys!! I think this is going to be an on going obsession. So I could think of a theme for a boy I didn't really want to pin the kid down already on say firetrucks and cowboy. So, I was looking in my girls room and saw they're sock monkeys! I love it its a little vintage, and somewhat neutral. It doesn't hurt that I have been looking at sock monkey stuff for a long time. So here it is... I love the back but don't look too close the binding is a little screwy

Here's the newest Project I have choosen to subject myself to. An online quilt a-long. You can find it here if you are interested in adding another project to your list:Road to Spring Quilt Along. But, I am optimistic with this one because there is a bit a time line. So here it goes I'm going with some Free Spirit fabrics the reds and blues in the Deer Valley line. I was thinking that it might be the focus point in my sad little living room/playroom. Wish me luck ! Im out to find a neutral solid.
